Gurus and Gadgets
There is a striking similarity that I have found with these two terms.
They both come and go - changing rapidly,
They both take us to the extremes - one to the material and the other to the spiritual,
Both have a power to tempt us to seek them and cling on to them, and
Hence they also make us feel powerless without them!
Knowing this thankfully early on, and seeing the scandals related to gurus and godmen these days, I prefer directly to interact with God...I take the best advice from elders and try to read some ancient books which are authentic ones...We don't necessarily need to have a Guru but if we get a good one, then it is well and good. But having said that, I feel religion, all religions for that matter and their respective masters have become commercial...And so I have more than enough reasons to say that I keep aloof from Gurus.
As for Gadgets, the moment you buy the latest one, you still have a high probability to become obsolete in few days itself. So rapid is the inventions and discoveries that we just can't keep pace with the changes...there is a point where we ought to compromise and settle for what we have in our hand.
